• PTFA Thankyou Gift Stall

  Children enjoyed shopping at the PTFA's thank you gift stalls this morning.

   

  The stall will be open for the final time tomorrow morning. There are plenty of gifts still available priced between 50p and £5. If your child would like to visit the gift stalls, please send money in a sealed envelope tomorrow.

  

• Supporting the Africa Trust

  Here at Hugo Meynell, we are aware that keeping our children and staff hydrated will help them to perform at their very best throughout the day. As a result, we have invested in watercoolers from AquAid. Our relationship with AquAid has also given our School the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, because with each purchase an automatic donation is made to The Africa Trust.

   

  These funds are used to build ‘Elephant Pumps’ - a modified version of an age old Chinese rope pulley system. One such pump is currently being installed in Africa on our behalf and it will be a much needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for many.

   

  As you can see on the photo below, our School’s name is proudly displayed on our well and we are delighted to have helped a local community have access to fresh water.

   

  To date AquAid have built over 8,000 such Elephant Pumps across parts of Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and have donated in excess of £17 million to charity.

  

• PTFA Thank You Gift Stall

  The PTFA are holding a Thank you Gift Stall because they were unable to hold Mother and Father’s Day gift stalls this year, so they've put it all into one big Thank you Gift Stall for the children to thank whoever they wish.

  The Gift Stall will take place at school tomorrow morning and Wednesday morning and gifts are priced between £1-£5.  Please send your child with money in a sealed envelope if they would like to visit the gift stall.

• Souvenir Tea Towel - celebrating 50 years of Hugo Meynell

  We have today released our own souvenir tea towel to celebrate 50 wonderful years of Hugo Meynell, featuring self portraits of all our lovely children and staff.

   

  Tea towels cost £4 each and are available to buy on ParentPay until 9th July.

  

• The Great British Spring Clean 2021

  It’s not every day you see a womble in Loggerheads but today, as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Clean and in conjunction with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Orinoco the Womble came to the village to show his support, armed with bags, litter pickers and hi-viz jackets!

   

  The Y6 children, although shocked by the amount of litter in the local park and surrounding area, enjoyed taking part and making a difference in improving our community and are keen to get out and about and do it again.
