School Closure Information

SCHOOL CLOSURE IN THE EVENT OF ADVERSE WEATHER AND TRANSPORT DISRUPTION

If we are faced with the very bad weather, we may need to close the school or dismiss students early. In the unlikely event that the weather is so severe, it is important that each student knows what to do to get home safely. I would be grateful if parents would take the time to organise the following:

  • Plan the journey home eg. whether students need to be collected from school, the bus to Ashley or walk.
  • Ensure that current home, work and mobile phone numbers are available to school and students by recording the information in the homework diary so that it can be referred to if necessary.
  • Make arrangements for when students arrive home eg. if you are not at home should they wait at a neighbours or friend’s house or phone to let you know they have arrived safely.

The decision to close the school is never taken lightly and the health and safety of pupils and staff is our prime concern.

The school website will be updated to keep you informed of our decisions should conditions change. If you need to make special arrangements, please phone the school office (01630 672287).

If the weather is bad overnight and we decide transport difficulties and conditions on site and around the school are unsafe, then we will use The School App and early morning radio announcements to inform you of arrangements. Under normal circumstances the caretaker will always open the school but limited pathways will be cleared. You will be notified if there is a change to the door that you should use to access school.
