Admission to Hugo Meynell Primary School - Reception class

Your child will usually start full-time in a Reception class in the September prior to their fifth birthday.

• September 2024 - children's dates of birth 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020
• September 2025 - children's dates of birth 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021

Reception Class forms part of a child's entitlement to the "Early Years Foundation Stage".

Hugo Meynell Primary School is a Local Authority maintained school and Staffordshire County Council are responsible for our admissions policy and the processes for children who are joining us from Reception age.

If the total number of applications exceeds the school's published admission number, Staffordshire County Council will adhere to their oversubscription criteria to determine which children will be offered a place at Hugo Meynell. You can find full details of this by clicking HERE.

In-Year admission to Hugo Meynell Primary School

If your child already attends another school and you wish to apply for a place at Hugo Meynell Primary School for them, perhaps if you are moving to the area, you will need to complete an 'In-Year Application form'. This can be found below. Once we have received your application, we will advise you of the outcome within 10 school days.

If we are unable to offer your child a place at Hugo Meynell, we will write to you with the reasons for this decision. You will have the right to appeal and full details of how to do this will be contained in the letter that we send you.

Admission to Hugo Meynell Nursery

The school also offers a Governor run Nursery which is available to children from their third birthday.

Admissions to Nursery are managed by the school and not Staffordshire County Council. Please contact the school office for further details or to register your child. Please note that admission to Nursery does not automatically grant a place in our Reception class. Parents still need to apply to Staffordshire County Council to apply for a Reception place.
