SUMMER
What are rivers and how are they used?
Fieldwork - What are the features of a local river?
Year 4 had a beautiful day out to the Shropshire Discovery Centre to support their Geography learning about rivers. They visited the River Onny to identify features as u-shaped valleys, meanders and learn about how they are formed. The children were able to add their own annotations to maps of the river before participating in an experiment to measure the speed of the river at three points along its course. They looked closely at clues in the landscape to identify how the river’s course has altered over time and finished the day off with a visit to the exhibition with a mammoth encounter, Iron Age experience and quiz.
A wonderful day out immersed in nature.
