Year 4 South America morning
Wednesday 19th March 2025 - Year 4 South America morning
We spent the morning looking at South America, and then learning about indigenous people of the Amazon. First, we tried a variety of foods imported from the region, including tropical fruits and honey. We estimated how far they had each come to get to the UK using a scale bar on a map. We discussed how the different climate of the biome meant that different produce grew there than at home.
We then went on to learn about indigenous life in the rainforest. We watched a short film about deforestation and the conflict between traditional indigenous life and agriculture. We learned about the spirituality, crafts and connection with nature of the indigenous people, and we made our own woven 'baskets', looking at indigenous patterns.
